5-LO Antibody (33) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects 5-LO in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-5-LO antibody (33) is available as a non-conjugated format. 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes, which are lipid mediators involved in inflammatory responses, particularly in conditions such as asthma and allergic reactions. 5-LO catalyzes the initial steps in the conversion of arachidonic acid into leukotrienes, which induce bronchoconstriction and increase vascular permeability, contributing to the pathophysiology of various inflammatory diseases. 5-LO localization within cells varies depending on cell type and activation state. In activated polymorphonuclear leukocytes, 5-LO translocates from the cytosol to the nuclear envelope in a calcium-dependent manner, while in alveolar macrophages, 5-LO predominantly resides in the nucleus. Upon activation, intranuclear 5-LO associates with the nuclear membrane, a process influenced by interactions with specific signaling molecules, phosphorylation events, and a unique nuclear localization signal encoded at the amino terminus. Understanding 5-LO dynamic localization and function is essential for elucidating inflammatory processes and developing targeted therapies for related diseases.
