SEE ALSO...

3PGDH Antibody (6B2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects 3PGDH of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 3PGDH (6B2) antibody is available in a non-conjugated form, providing flexibility for various experimental needs. 3PGDH, consisting of 544 amino acids, plays a crucial role in metabolism and function of the central nervous system, particularly in L-serine and glycine synthesis, which are essential trophic factors supplied by glial cells to support survival and development of central neurons. 3PGDH is expressed in two distinct mRNA transcripts: a dominant 2.1 kb mRNA highly expressed in prostate, testis, ovary, brain, liver, kidney, and pancreas, and a 710 bp mRNA showing high expression in heart and skeletal muscle. Regulation of 3PGDH at transcriptional level is influenced by tissue specificity and cellular proliferative status, highlighting importance in various physiological contexts. A deficiency in 3PGDH can lead to a treatable congenital error that impairs L-serine biosynthesis, resulting in severe neurological consequences such as congenital microcephaly, psychomotor retardation, and seizures, underscoring significance in both developmental biology and potential therapeutic interventions.
