26S Proteasome α Antibody (IIG7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the 26S Proteasome alpha protein of Drosophila melanogaster origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-26S Proteasome α antibody (IIG7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. 26S proteasome is a crucial component of the ubiquitin-proteasome system, responsible for degrading ubiquitinated proteins, which maintains cellular homeostasis and regulates various biological processes such as cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and responses to oxidative stress. This protein complex comprises over 30 different subunits, with α subunits forming the outer rings of the 20S core, which restricts access to the catalytic chamber and plays a vital role in assembly and stability of the proteasome. Assembly of this large complex is ATP-dependent, and due to its size, can disassociate into subcomplexes, including a 20S core and two 19S regulatory complexes. Understanding the structure and function of 26S proteasome helps elucidate its role in cellular regulation and implications in various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
