MEK-1 Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MEK-1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHCP, and ELISA. MEK-1 Antibody (H-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MEK-1, also known as MAP2K1 or MKK1, plays a crucial role in the MAPK signaling pathway, which is essential for regulating various cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and survival. MEK-1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is activated in response to growth factors and other extracellular signals, leading to translocation to the nucleus where MEK-1 phosphorylates and activates extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs). This activation is vital for the transmission of signals from the cell surface to the nucleus, ultimately influencing gene expression and cellular responses. MEK-1 interaction with other proteins in the MAPK pathway, such as RAS and RAF, underscores MEK-1′s importance in cellular signaling and potential implications in cancer and other diseases.

Can this antibody be used for detection of phosphorylated MEK-1 of human origin?

Asked by: cjMara
MEK-1 (H-8): sc-6250 antibody is able to detect total MEK-1, both phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated. The antibody has been used as an experimental control through a series Western blot experiments using lambda phosphatase treated lysates to demonstrate phospho-specificity of our phospho-specific MEK-1 antibodies (e.g., sc-81503).
