SOD-1 Activators

SOD-1 Activators encompass a variety of chemicals that interact with cellular pathways to indirectly influence the expression or activity of SOD-1. Several chemicals, such as N-Acetylcysteine, Lipoic Acid, and Selenite, affect the redox environment within the cell. By altering the levels of other antioxidants like glutathione or by post-translational modification, these chemicals pave the way for enhanced SOD-1 activity. Others like Curcumin, Tert-butylhydroquinone, Quercetin, and Epigallocatechin gallate activate the Nrf2 pathway. This pathway plays a pivotal role in upregulating various antioxidant enzymes, including SOD-1. Therefore, Nrf2 activators contribute significantly to the pool of chemicals that can augment SOD-1 activity.

Additionally, Zinc serves a critical role in maintaining the structural stability of SOD-1, making it a unique member in this category. Resveratrol, through its action on SIRT1, has been known to influence SOD-1. SIRT1 modulates the activity of transcription factors that control the expression of SOD-1.
