SLC6A2 Activators
The chemical class SLC6A2 Activators encompasses a range of compounds that indirectly influence the activity of SLC6A2, a protein involved in the reuptake of norepinephrine in presynaptic terminals, thereby regulating adrenergic signaling. Epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, amphetamine, phentermine, pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, and tyramine are chemicals that can increase the release of norepinephrine. As SLC6A2 is responsible for the reuptake of norepinephrine into presynaptic terminals, an increase in norepinephrine release can indirectly increase the activity of SLC6A2 as the transporter works to clear the synapse of the neurotransmitter.
