RASEF Activators

RASEF activators, as illustrated in the table, are chemicals that engage in various cellular pathways, thereby indirectly modulating the activity of RASEF. These activators include ligands that stimulate cell surface receptors, leading to a cascade of intracellular signals that can converge on the Ras family of proteins. Compounds such as EGF activate receptor tyrosine kinases which can then signal through pathways that influence RASEF. PMA, by activating PKC, potentially alters the phosphorylation status of proteins associated with Ras signaling, thereby impacting RASEF. Adenylyl cyclase activators like Forskolin raise cAMP levels, which can result in the activation of PKA, influencing RASEF activity through Ras signaling.

Moreover, the use of analogs and intermediates involved in the post-translational modification of Ras proteins such as GTP and farnesyl pyrophosphate can directly facilitate the activation of RASEF. Molecules such as SNAP and nitroglycerin release nitric oxide, enhancing guanylyl cyclase activity and the cGMP pathway, which might indirectly activate RASEF by modulating Ras signaling. Additionally, compounds that alter secondary messenger levels, such as 8-Bromo-cAMP and 8-Bromo-cGMP, work through their respective kinases to potentially modify Ras signaling cascades impacting RASEF activity.
