OR2C1 Activators

Adrenergic receptor agonists like isoproterenol enhance the production of cAMP by stimulating adrenergic receptors. The neurotransmitter 3-Hydroxytyramine, too, via its own receptors, can elevate cAMP, which in turn may impact OR2C1 receptor function. The activity of cAMP is tightly regulated by the enzyme phosphodiesterase, which degrades cAMP into its inactive form. Substances like cholera toxin and pertussis toxin alter G protein function, leading to increased cAMP and modulating GPCR-mediated pathways, including those involving OR2C1. Glucagon operates through its cognate GPCR to trigger an increase in cAMP, which can affect the signaling properties of receptors like OR2C1.
