Oatp3 Activators

Oatp3 activators, as a chemical class, are not direct modulators of the protein but rather influence the activity or expression of the Oatp3 protein indirectly through various cellular mechanisms and pathways. Some activators like Prostaglandin E2 influence cellular signaling, thereby increasing the uptake of OATP substrates. Others, like Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), act on distinct cellular proteins such as protein kinase C, leading to indirect impacts on OATP transport activity. Rosiglitazone, a known agonist for PPARγ, offers another modulatory mechanism by altering transporter expression.

Forskolin's action centers on the elevation of intracellular cAMP levels, which can subsequently influence OATP function. Compounds such as dexamethasone exert their effects by targeting specific cellular receptors, in this case, glucocorticoid receptors, which then cascades into changes in OATP expression levels. Others, like EGF, sulforaphane, and retinoic acid, delve into cellular signaling and gene expression regulation, potentially impacting OATPs. Finally, compounds like luteolin, genistein, resveratrol, and curcumin are known for their multifaceted roles in cellular pathways, some of which can indirectly affect OATP transport and expression.
