MYH10 Inhibitors

MYH10 inhibitors belong to a class of chemical compounds designed to target and inhibit the activity of the protein myosin-10 (MYH10). MYH10 is a member of the myosin superfamily, which plays a crucial role in various cellular processes involving actin cytoskeleton dynamics, including cell motility, cytokinesis, and intracellular transport. MYH10, in particular, is a non-muscle myosin II isoform, and it is involved in regulating actin filament organization and cell contractility. Inhibition of MYH10 by specific inhibitors can have a significant impact on cellular processes that depend on its activity.

The primary mechanism of action of MYH10 inhibitors is the disruption of MYH10-mediated actin filament dynamics and cellular contractility. These inhibitors often work by binding to the ATP-binding site of MYH10, preventing the hydrolysis of ATP and thus impeding the energy-dependent motor function of the protein. As a consequence, MYH10 inhibitors interfere with the ability of cells to generate contractile forces and control their shape, which can have wide-ranging effects on cellular behaviors such as migration, division, and adhesion. Researchers utilize MYH10 inhibitors as valuable tools in cell biology and molecular biology studies to investigate the specific functions of MYH10 and its impact on various cellular processes. Understanding the role of MYH10 in these processes is crucial for gaining insights into fundamental cellular biology.
