Chemical activators of LHR, or Luteinizing hormone receptor, primarily function by influencing the cyclic AMP (cAMP) pathway that LHR is intrinsically involved in as a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR). Forskolin and IBMX, for instance, can modulate this pathway by increasing cAMP levels through the activation of adenylate cyclase and through the inhibition of phosphodiesterases, respectively.
