ARAP1 Activators

ARF-GAP with Rho-GAP domain, ANK repeat and PH domain-containing protein 1 (ARAP1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ARAP1 gene. It's a multi-domain protein that is known to interact with various signaling molecules, making it a key player in intracellular communication and coordination.ARAP1 has several functional domains including ARF-GAP, Rho-GAP, Ankyrin repeat, and Pleckstrin homology (PH) domains. The ARF-GAP and Rho-GAP domains provide ARAP1 the ability to act as a GTPase-activating protein for both ARF and Rho family GTPases, which are key regulators of many cellular processes including cell shape and movement, vesicle trafficking, and gene expression.

The Ankyrin repeat domain allows ARAP1 to interact with other proteins, while the PH domain enables it to bind to phosphoinositides, a type of phospholipid found in the cell membrane. These interactions likely help target ARAP1 to specific cellular locations and mediate its effects on cell signaling.It has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer. For example, changes in ARAP1 expression or function disrupt normal cell behavior and contribute to the uncontrolled growth or migration of cancer cells.
