TCP-1 θ Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects TCP-1 theta protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TCP-1 θ (E-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TCP-1, also known as t complex polypeptide 1, is a crucial subunit of the chaperonin containing TCP-1 (CCT) complex, which is essential for proper folding of cytosolic proteins, particularly actins and tubulins. CCT complex is composed of eight distinct subunits, each encoded by different genes, and plays a vital role in cellular processes by ensuring proteins achieve functional conformations. TCP-1′s importance is underscored by involvement in developmental processes, as TCP-1 was first identified in mice with tail-less and embryonic lethal phenotypes, indicating a critical role in early development. Additionally, homologous sequences of TCP-1 have been found in various species, with yeast TCP-1 serving as a molecular chaperone for actin and tubulin, further highlighting evolutionary conservation and significance in maintaining cellular integrity and function.
