    SEE ALSO...

GMD Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GMD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GMD (C-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GMD, also known as GDP-D-mannose dehydratase or GMDS, is a crucial enzyme consisting of 372 amino acids that plays a significant role in carbohydrate metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of GDP-mannose to GDP-4-keto-6-deoxymannose, utilizing NADP as a cofactor. This enzymatic activity is vital for the biosynthesis of glycoproteins and glycolipids, which are essential for cell signaling and structural integrity. Mutations in GMD have been implicated in resistance to TRAIL (tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand)-induced apoptosis, highlighting GMD′s importance in cancer biology. GMD is located on human chromosome 6, a region associated with various genetic disorders and cancer susceptibility, including early onset intestinal cancer and conditions such as Porphyria cutanea tarda and Parkinson′s disease. Understanding GMD′s function and implications is crucial for advancing research in metabolic pathways and therapeutic interventions.
