Cdk7 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Cdk7 of mouse, rat, human, and monkey origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Cdk7 antibody (C-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cdk7 plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation as a component of the cyclin-dependent kinase-activating kinase (CAK) complex, which is essential for activating other cyclin-dependent kinases, such as Cdk2 and Cdc2. The activation of these kinases drives progression through the cell cycle by regulating key transitions between different phases. Cdk7 becomes activated by binding cyclin H, which enables kinase activity, and contains a conserved threonine residue critical for function; mutations in this residue can significantly reduce CAK activity. Understanding Cdk7 and CAK complex interactions helps explain cell cycle control mechanisms and potential implications in cancer biology, where pathway dysregulation can lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation.
