ZAG Antibody (1D4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ZAG protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-ZAG antibody (1D4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ZAG protein, also known as Zn-α2-glycoprotein, is a soluble, secreted protein predominantly found in serum and other body fluids such as cerebrospinal fluid, blood plasma, urine, and sweat. One of the critical aspects of ZAG is its role in lipid metabolism; ZAG stimulates lipid degradation in adipocytes, which is particularly important in the context of energy homeostasis and metabolic regulation. Notably, ZAG overexpression has been linked to significant fat loss in patients with advanced cancers, highlighting ZAG′s potential as a biomarker for cachexia and other metabolic disorders. Additionally, ZAG exhibits a unique structure that includes a large groove similar to the peptide binding grooves of class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins, although ZAG does not bind the class I light chain beta-2-microglobulin. This structural similarity suggests ZAG may play a role in immune modulation, further emphasizing ZAG′s importance in both metabolic and immune responses.
