Zic1 Antibody (1A8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Zic1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Zic1 antibody (1A8) is available as the non-conjugated form. Zic1, or zinc finger protein of the cerebellum 1, is a crucial C2H2 zinc finger transcription factor that plays a significant role in the regulation of neuronal precursor expansion by inhibiting neuronal differentiation. This function is vital for proper cerebellar development, as Zic1 influences the proliferation of cells in the external germinal layer, thereby determining the folial pattern of the cerebellum. Additionally, Zic1 has been shown to bind and transactivate the apolipoprotein E gene, which is important for lipid metabolism and neuroprotection. The gene encoding Zic1 is closely linked to the gene for zinc finger protein of the cerebellum 4, highlighting the interconnectedness of this protein family in developmental processes.
