XAF1 Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects XAF1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). XAF1, or X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP)-associated factor 1, plays a crucial role in regulating apoptosis by inhibiting the anti-apoptotic activity of XIAP, a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP) family that prevents programmed cell death by inhibiting caspases. The importance of XAF1 lies in its ability to promote apoptosis in cells where XIAP is overexpressed, which is often the case in various cancers. By redistributing XIAP from the cytosol to the nucleus in the presence of XAF1, the balance between cell survival and death is shifted, making XAF1 a potential target for therapeutic intervention in cancer treatment. Notably, XAF1 transcripts are highly expressed in heart and ovary tissues, and low levels of XAF1 mRNA have been associated with increased cancer cell survival, indicating that enhancing XAF1 expression could restore apoptotic pathways in tumor cells. Furthermore, the human XAF1 gene is activated by interferons, specifically IFN-α and IFN-β, highlighting XAF1′s role in immune response and potential implications in cancer immunotherapy. Anti-XAF1 antibody (H-4) is an essential tool for researchers studying apoptosis and its regulation in human health and disease.
