WWOX Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects WWOX protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). WWOX, or WW domain containing oxidoreductase, is a candidate tumor suppressor that plays a crucial role in cellular processes, including apoptosis and sex-steroid metabolism regulation, due to its unique structure comprising two WW domains that facilitate protein-protein interactions and a short chain dehydrogenase (SDR) domain. WWOX′s importance lies in modulating pathways associated with cancer, as alterations in WWOX gene have been linked to esophageal squamous cell carcinogenesis and tumorigenicity of breast cancer cell lines such as MDA-MB-435 and T47D. The murine homolog WOX1 is localized in mitochondria, where WOX1 contains a mitochondrial targeting sequence within the SDR domain, underscoring WOX1′s potential role in mitochondrial function and cellular energy metabolism. WWOX interacts with c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1 (JNK1), which can sequester WWOX and influence apoptosis, highlighting WWOX′s significance in cancer biology and therapeutic targeting.
