WDR5 Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects WDR5 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). WDR5, also known as BMP-2-induced gene 3 kb or BIG-3, is a crucial component of the Trithorax (TRX) histone methyltransferase complexes, which are essential for regulating gene expression during vertebrate development. WDR5 plays a significant role in the activation of Hox genes and is involved in the global trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 4 (H3K4me3), a modification that is vital for maintaining active transcriptional states. WDR5 presence in osteoblasts, chondrocytes, osteocytes, and marrow stromal cells highlights its importance in bone development and differentiation. Notably, WDR5 structure includes seven WD-repeats, which facilitate interaction with other proteins and enhance function in promoting osteoblast differentiation. WDR5 binding specifically to dimethylated Lys4 (K4me2) in histone H3 underscores its role in epigenetic regulation, making WDR5 a key player in developmental processes and a valuable target for research in gene regulation and differentiation pathways.
