VPS28 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects vacuolar protein sorting protein 28 (VPS28) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). VPS28 plays a crucial role in endocytic and biosynthetic trafficking processes essential for delivering proteins to the vacuole, a vital organelle involved in cellular waste processing and nutrient storage. Mutations in VPS28 can lead to accumulation of vacuolar endocytic and late Golgi markers in aberrant endosome-like compartments, disrupting normal cellular operations. These class E compartments, which contain endocytosed markers and precursors of vacuolar hydrolases, are critical for sorting materials destined for the vacuole, ensuring proteins are correctly processed and transported. VPS28, along with other class E VPS proteins, facilitates formation of transport intermediates necessary for efficient transport out of the prevacuolar endosome, highlighting VPS28′s significance in maintaining cellular homeostasis.
