VPRBP Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects VPRBP of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-VPRBP antibody (C-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VPRBP, also known as DCAF1 or RIP, is a crucial cytoplasmic protein consisting of 1,507 amino acids that plays a significant role in the cellular response to HIV infection. VPRBP contains a LisH domain and is expressed ubiquitously, functioning primarily as a receptor for the CUL-4-DDB1 complex. Upon HIV infection, VPRBP interacts with the virion-associated protein (Vpr), which is an accessory protein of HIV that influences viral replication and the apoptotic pathways of host cells. This interaction leads to cell cycle arrest at the G2 phase, impacting the proliferation of infected T cells. VPRBP modulates the nuclear transport of the HIV-1 pre-integration complex and activates transcription of both cellular and viral promoters, underscoring its importance in the pathogenesis of T cell depletion in HIV-infected individuals. Multiple isoforms of VPRBP exist due to alternative splicing events, highlighting the complexity of its regulatory functions in cellular processes.
