SEE ALSO...

VP5 Antibody (6F10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects VP5 protein by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). VP5 (6F10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VP5 protein plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) capsid, which is essential for protecting double-stranded DNA and facilitating infection. Located within the infected-cell nucleus, VP5 is the predominant component of the capsomer, forming hexons and pentons that create the intricate icosahedral structure of the viral capsid. VP5 hexons interact with scaffolding protein VP26, while VP5 pentons are strategically positioned at the vertices of the capsid. This precise arrangement ensures proper encapsulation of the viral genome and aids in efficient delivery of viral particles during infection.
