VGF Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects VGF in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-VGF antibody (B-6) recognizes VGF, a neuropeptide crucial for neuronal differentiation and survival, particularly in the peripheral nervous system and central nervous system. VGF (B-6) antibody detects VGF predominantly expressed in the adult hypothalamus, where VGF plays a vital role in regulating energy expenditure and body weight, making VGF significant for understanding metabolic disorders. VGF is synthesized and secreted by neurons and notably upregulated by nerve growth factor in the PC12 cell line, indicating VGF′s involvement in neurotrophic signaling. Additionally, VGF expression is rapidly induced by various stimuli, including injury, circadian rhythms, and neuronal activity, highlighting VGF′s dynamic role in the nervous system′s response to environmental changes. VGF′s ability to interact with other proteins involved in energy homeostasis further underscores VGF′s importance in neurobiology and potential implications in therapeutic strategies for obesity and related conditions.
