VAP-A Antibody (4C12) is a high quality monoclonal VAP-A antibody (also designated VAP-A antibody) suitable for the detection of the VAP-A protein of mouse, rat and human origin. VAP-A Antibody (4C12) is available as the non-conjugated anti-VAP-A antibody. SNAREs are compartmentally specific, integral membrane proteins that are involved in the fusion of membranes and the transport of intracellular proteins. SNAREs are expressed at high levels in all cell types. VAMP-associated protein A (VAP-A) is a SNARE regulator with high levels of expression in the intestine during late embryogenesis and early neonatal development. VAP-A binds to a wide range of SNAREs and fusion-related proteins, including Syntaxin 1A, rBet1, rSec22, αSNAP and NSF. This suggests that VAP-A may play a more general role in SNARE-mediated vesicle traffic between the ER and Golgi in nonpolarized cells. VAP-A also mediates traffic in cell membranes and may play an important role in modulating intestinal smooth muscle cell differentiation. VAP-A and p48 interact to form a stable complex in mammalian cells.

Hi, does this antibody recognizes mouse VAP-A in immunofluorescence?

Thank you for your question. This antibody is currently recommended for detection of mouse VAP-A for immunofluorescent staining in fresh or frozen tissues or cells fixed in methanol or acetone. Reactivity with mouse is predicted based on sequence identity with the antigen. The antibody has been tested in IF on methanol fixed HeLa cells.

Can sc-293278: VAP-A (4C12) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-293278: VAP-A (4C12) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here:
