    SEE ALSO...

VACVase Antibody (E-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects VACVase protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-VACVase antibody (E-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. VACVase protein, also known as valacyclovir hydrolase, BPHL (biphenyl hydrolase-like), or MCNAA, is a 291 amino acid enzyme belonging to the AB hydrolase superfamily, primarily expressed in the liver and kidney, with lower levels in the heart, intestine, and skeletal muscle. This serine hydrolase plays a crucial role in the hydrolytic activation of amino acid ester prodrugs, contributing to chemical detoxification processes within the body. VACVase contains a serine residue at its active site, enabling enzymatic hydrolysis and activation of compounds such as valacyclovir, an antiviral medication. VACVase is also expressed in various carcinoma cell lines, suggesting potential as a target for the activation of anticancer and antiviral prodrugs. Additionally, VACVase exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, designated α and β, which may have distinct functional roles in different biological contexts.
