SEE ALSO...

UROD Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects UROD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UROD (C-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase (UROD) is a crucial 367 amino acid protein that functions as a homodimer and plays a vital role in the heme biosynthetic pathway. Specifically, UROD catalyzes the conversion of uroporphyrinogen to coproporphyrinogen by removing four carboxymethyl side chains, a process essential for proper synthesis of heme, which is critical for oxygen transport and various enzymatic reactions in the body. Disruptions in UROD function due to genetic mutations can lead to significant health issues, including familial porphyria cutanea tarda, sporadic porphyria cutanea tarda, and hepatoerythropoietic porphyria, each associated with varying degrees of skin sensitivity, liver damage, and metabolic disturbances. Anti-UROD antibody (C-4) facilitates research into these disorders and the broader implications of heme metabolism in health and disease.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-365297 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
