Unc18-1/2 Antibody (D-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Unc18-1 and Unc18-2 proteins of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Unc18-1/2 antibody (D-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Unc18-1 and Unc18-2, also known as Syntaxin binding proteins 1 and 2, play a crucial role in regulating exocytosis by acting as chaperone molecules that inhibit Syntaxin interactions with cognate SNARE (soluble NSF attachment protein receptors) proteins. This regulation is vital for maintaining proper neurotransmitter release and cellular communication. Notably, Unc18-1 is phosphorylated at Ser 313, a site targeted by protein kinase C, and at Thr 574, which is regulated by cyclin-dependent kinase 5, both of which modulate interaction with Syntaxin 1A. Unc18-2 co-localizes with Syntaxin 3 at the apical plasma membrane of intestinal, proximal tubule, and collecting duct epithelial cells, highlighting importance in cellular transport processes. Unc18-1 and Unc18-2 mRNA expression in RBL-2H3 mast cells, mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells, and platelets underscores significance in various physiological contexts.
