SEE ALSO...

UBE2J1 Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects UBE2J1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UBE2J1 (B-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. UBE2J1, also known as Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 J1, Ubc6p, CGI-76, NCUBE1, HSPC153, or HSPC205, is a 318 amino acid single-pass type IV membrane protein that plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome system, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis. UBE2J1 is primarily localized to the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), where UBE2J1 catalyzes the attachment of ubiquitin to misfolded membrane proteins, thereby marking them for proteasomal degradation. This process is vital for quality control within the ER, as UBE2J1 ensures that only properly folded proteins proceed through the secretory pathway, preventing the accumulation of potentially toxic misfolded proteins that could disrupt cellular function. The ATP-dependent reaction facilitated by UBE2J1 results in the production of AMP, a diphosphate, and a ubiquitin-tagged protein, highlighting UBE2J1′s importance in cellular protein management and overall cellular health.
