SEE ALSO...

UBC9 Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects UBC9 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UBC9 (C-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. UBC9, also known as UBE2I, plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-like modification process, specifically in the conjugation of small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) proteins to target substrates, which is essential for regulating various cellular functions. UBC9 is primarily located in the nucleus, where UBC9 participates in critical processes such as transcriptional regulation, DNA repair, and cell cycle progression. Nuclear localization of UBC9 is vital because UBC9 allows for the timely modification of nuclear proteins, thereby influencing gene expression and cellular responses to stress. UBC9′s interaction with transcription factors and mitotic regulators underscores UBC9′s importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and facilitating proper cell division. Understanding UBC9′s role in these processes can provide insights into potential implications in diseases characterized by dysregulated protein modification, such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

Does this antibody also recognize yeast Ubc9?

Asked by: shibai
Thank you for your question. We do not have any data or product citations using this antibody for detection of yeast Ubc9. Please contact our Technical Service Department if you would like us to assist you with performing sequence analysis with the antigen to predict potential cross-reactivity with that non-mammalian species.

Can UBC9 (C-12): sc-271057 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, UBC9 (C-12): sc-271057 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
