TS Antibody (TS 106) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects thymidylate synthase (TS) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-TS antibody (TS 106) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Thymidylate synthase (TS), also known as TYMS, TMS, TSase, and HsT422, plays a crucial role in DNA biosynthesis by catalyzing the conversion of deoxyuridine monophosphate (dUMP) to deoxythymidine monophosphate (dTMP) using 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate as a cofactor. This enzymatic activity is vital for the synthesis of thymidine, which is essential for DNA replication and repair. TS functions as an RNA-binding protein that can interact with its own mRNA, forming a ribonucleoprotein complex that associates with other cellular mRNAs, including those of the p53 tumor suppressor gene and Myc transcription factors. This interaction highlights TS′s role in regulating gene expression and cellular responses to DNA damage. Inhibition of TS activity can lead to DNA replication failure and cell death, particularly in rapidly dividing cancer cells that are sensitive to thymidine depletion, making TS a significant target for chemotherapeutic strategies.
