TS Antibody (D-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects thymidylate synthase (TS) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TS plays a crucial role in DNA biosynthesis by catalyzing the conversion of 2′-deoxyuridine-5′-monophosphate (dUMP) to 2′-deoxythymidine-5′-monophosphate (dTMP) using 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate as a cofactor, making TS essential for cell proliferation and survival. TS′s importance extends beyond enzymatic function as an RNA-binding protein that can interact with its own mRNA, forming a ribonucleoprotein complex that associates with various cellular mRNAs, including those of p53 tumor suppressor gene and Myc transcription factors. This interaction highlights TS′s role in regulating gene expression and cellular responses to stress, particularly in cancer cells that are highly sensitive to thymidine depletion due to rapid division.
