SEE ALSO...

trichoplein Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects trichoplein protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-trichoplein antibody (G-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Trichoplein, also known as THCP (trichoplein keratin filament-binding protein) or mitostatin, is a 498 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting cell growth and promoting apoptosis during cellular stress. Localization within the cytoplasm, mitochondria, and cell membrane is significant, as trichoplein is expressed at high levels in breast epithelial cells, normal urothelial cells, skeletal muscle, liver, testis, heart, and kidney, while showing reduced expression in advanced bladder and breast carcinoma. Trichoplein interacts with various cytokeratins, including Cytokeratin 5, 6, 8, 14, 16, and 18, which are essential for the structural stability of epithelial cells. Encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 12q24.11, trichoplein is a member of the THCP family, highlighting its relevance in both normal physiology and disease states.
