transgelin-2 Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects transgelin-2 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). transgelin-2 (C-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. transgelin-2, also known as SM22α homolog, plays a crucial role in regulating smooth muscle contraction and cellular motility, making transgelin-2 important for maintaining vascular integrity and responding to injury. transgelin-2 is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle cells and peritoneal B-1 cells, and TAGLN2 is located on chromosome 1q23.1-q25, encoding a 199 amino acid protein that features a calponin-like repeat and a calponin-homology domain. transgelin-2′s structural characteristics, particularly its ability to bind actin, are vital for function, as transgelin-2 facilitates gelling of actin fibers, which is essential for cytoskeletal organization and cellular shape. During embryogenesis, transgelin-2 is expressed in various muscle types but becomes restricted to vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells in adulthood, with reduced expression in transformed cell lines suggesting transgelin-2′s potential role as a biomarker for cellular transformation.
