    SEE ALSO...

TorsinA Antibody (D-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects TorsinA of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TorsinA Antibody (D-7) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TorsinA, consisting of 332 amino acids, plays a crucial role in the central nervous system, where TorsinA is predominantly expressed in neurons across nearly all regions. Cytoplasmic distribution of TorsinA is essential for chaperone-like activities that facilitate the assembly, operation, and disassembly of protein complexes, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and neuronal communication. Notably, mutations in the DYT1 gene, which encodes TorsinA, are linked to early-onset torsion dystonia, a movement disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions that can significantly impact quality of life. Understanding TorsinA function and interactions is critical for elucidating the underlying mechanisms of this disorder and developing potential therapeutic strategies. The gene encoding TorsinA is located on human chromosome 9q34 and shares high homology with three other mammalian genes and a nematode gene, indicating evolutionary significance and potential functional redundancy within the cellular environment.
