SEE ALSO...

TOPORS Antibody (Y-30) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects TOPORS protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-TOPORS antibody (Y-30) is available as the non-conjugated form. TOPORS protein, also known as topoisomerase I binding, arginine/serine-rich, LUN, RP31, P53BP3, or TP53BPL, is a 1,045 amino acid protein characterized by the presence of a RING-type zinc finger, which is crucial for function as a ubiquitin E3 ligase. TOPORS protein is primarily localized to discrete nuclear foci and is expressed in various tissues, with highest levels found in the testis. TOPORS protein′s ability to ubiquitinate key proteins, such as p53, plays a significant role in regulating cellular responses to DNA damage, as TOPORS targets these proteins for proteasomal degradation. Notably, TOPORS expression can be induced by genotoxic agents like camptothecin and cisplatin, highlighting importance in DNA damage repair pathways. Furthermore, decreased levels of TOPORS have been observed in lung and colon cancers, suggesting potential role as a tumor suppressor. Mutations in the gene encoding TOPORS are linked to retinitis pigmentosa type 31 (RP31), a degenerative condition that leads to progressive vision loss, underscoring TOPORS protein′s critical function in maintaining cellular integrity and vision.

Can sc-101182: TOPORS (Y-30) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-101182: TOPORS (Y-30) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
