TNAP Antibody (B4-78) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). TNAP is a crucial enzyme that plays a significant role in bone mineralization, functioning alongside plasma cell membrane glycoprotein-1 to facilitate mineral deposition in the bone matrix. This process is vital for maintaining healthy bone structure and density, and any disruption can lead to serious conditions such as hypophosphatasia, a rare genetic disorder characterized by impaired bone mineralization and skeletal defects. TNAP is widely expressed in tissues such as the liver, kidney, and bone, highlighting its importance in various physiological processes. The human gene encoding TNAP is located on chromosome 1p36.12, and understanding TNAP function and regulation is essential for elucidating mechanisms underlying bone health and disease. Anti-TNAP antibody (B4-78) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the role of alkaline phosphatases in health and disease.

Can TNAP (B4-78): sc-81754 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, TNAP (B4-78): sc-81754 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
