TKTL1/2 Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TKTL1/2 by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TKTL1/2 (C-11) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TKTL1, also known as transketolase-like 1, plays a vital role in cellular metabolism by participating in the pentose phosphate pathway, which generates nucleotides and nucleic acids, supporting cell proliferation and survival. TKTL1 is localized in both nucleus and cytoplasm, coordinating metabolic processes in response to cellular demands. TKTL1 forms a homodimer and requires calcium and thiamine pyrophosphate as cofactors to catalyze the conversion of sedoheptulose 7-phosphate and D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate into D-ribose 5-phosphate and D-xylulose 5-phosphate. TKTL1 expression is significant in lung, brain, liver, heart, and kidney tissues, and elevated levels have been linked to diabetic complications and epithelial tumor progression. TKTL2, a closely related protein, shares functional similarities and catalyzes phosphate transfer reactions, highlighting the importance of transketolase family proteins in metabolic regulation.
