TIMP-1 Antibody (2A5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TIMP-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. TIMP-1 (2A5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TIMP-1, or tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1, plays a crucial role in regulating extracellular matrix remodeling by inhibiting metalloproteinases, which are enzymes responsible for the degradation of various components of the extracellular matrix. This regulation is vital for maintaining tissue homeostasis and is implicated in processes such as wound healing, tissue repair, and tumor progression. Notably, TIMP-1 interacts with metalloproteinases like collagenases and gelatinases, leading to their irreversible inactivation, which underscores its importance in controlling matrix turnover and cellular signaling. Additionally, TIMP-1 has been identified as identical to erythroid-potentiation activity (EPA), highlighting its multifaceted roles in cellular processes. The expression of TIMP-1 is influenced by various factors, including parathyroid hormone, which regulates TIMP-2 in osteoblastic cells, indicating a complex interplay between these proteins in bone metabolism and other physiological functions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from very weak signalI was trying to use this antibody to detect recombinant Timp-1 over-expressed in 293T cells, according to some good reviews posted here. Unfortunately it didn't work well and it only gave some non-specific bands. I got a replacement of G6, which has way better signal.
