SEE ALSO...

Tim50 Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Tim50 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Tim50 (D-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Tim50, also known as Tim50L or TIMM50, plays a crucial role in mitochondrial function as a key component of the Tim23 complex, which is essential for importing nuclear-encoded precursor proteins into mitochondria. Tim50 protein is primarily located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, where Tim50 facilitates the translocation of proteins necessary for mitochondrial biogenesis and function. Tim50 function is vital, as defects in Tim50 activity have been linked to various neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting Tim50′s importance in cellular health and development. Two isoforms of Tim50 arise from alternative splicing, with isoform 1 being localized to the inner mitochondrial membrane and isoform 2 found in nuclear speckles, suggesting diverse regulatory roles within the cell.
