SEE ALSO...

TIM Antibody (H-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects TIM protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TIM (H-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Triosephosphate isomerase (TIM), also known as TPI1, plays a crucial role in the glycolytic pathway by catalyzing the reversible conversion of dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, which are essential intermediates in glucose metabolism. This enzymatic activity is vital for energy production, as TIM facilitates the generation of pyruvate and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) from glucose, thereby supporting cellular respiration and energy homeostasis. The human TIM gene spans 3.5 kilobase pairs, consists of seven exons, and encodes a 249 amino acid protein. TIM expression regulation involves a promoter region containing a TATA box and multiple GC boxes, which are critical for transcription initiation. TIM deficiencies can lead to a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by a metabolic block in glycolysis, resulting in DHAP accumulation in erythrocytes and leading to serious health issues such as non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia, recurrent infections, cardiomyopathy, and neuromuscular dysfunctions.
