TIM-4 Antibody (G-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TIM-4 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TIM-4 (G-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TIM-4, also known as T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain containing 4 or SMUCKLER, is a 378 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein characterized by one immunoglobulin-like V-type domain, and belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. TIM-4 is predominantly expressed in lymphoid tissues such as the spleen, where TIM-4 plays a crucial role as a phosphatidylserine receptor, facilitating the uptake of apoptotic cells and influencing T-cell proliferation. The interaction between TIM-4 and TIM-1 is particularly significant, as this interaction suggests a regulatory function in immune responses, which is vital for maintaining immune homeostasis and preventing autoimmune diseases. The gene encoding TIM-4 is located on human chromosome 5, a region that is critical for various genetic conditions, including Cri du chat syndrome and certain leukemias, highlighting TIM-4′s importance in both health and disease.
