Thrombospondin 5 Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Thrombospondin 5 (THBS5) of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-THBS5 antibody (F-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. THBS5, also known as cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), plays a crucial role in cartilage and extracellular matrix structural integrity. THBS5 (F-7) monoclonal antibody targets a protein primarily found in cartilage, tendon, and vascular smooth muscle, where expression is developmentally regulated within chondrocyte territorial and interterritorial matrix. THBS5′s unique structure, including type 2 (epidermal growth factor-like) and type 3 (calmodulin-like) repeats, enables interactions with other extracellular matrix components, such as Collagen Types I, II, and IX, in a zinc-dependent manner. These interactions maintain cartilage mechanical properties and ensure proper tissue function. Mutations in the COMP/THBS5 gene are linked to genetic disorders like pseudoachondroplasia and multiple epiphyseal dysplasia, leading to skeletal abnormalities and early-onset osteoarthritis. Anti-THBS5 antibody (F-7)′s effective detection capabilities make this reagent invaluable for research into these conditions and cartilage biology.
