Thrombospondin 5 Antibody (644A8D5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Thrombospondin 5 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Thrombospondin 5, also known as cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of cartilage and connective tissues, making anti-Thrombospondin 5 antibody (644A8D5) essential for studying the extracellular matrix. Thrombospondin 5 is primarily located in the extracellular matrix of cartilage, tendon, and vascular smooth muscle, where Thrombospondin 5 is developmentally regulated and localized to the chondrocyte territorial and interterritorial matrix. Proper localization of Thrombospondin 5 is vital for binding to Collagen Types I, II, and IX in a zinc-dependent manner, which is important for the stability and organization of the extracellular matrix. Mutations in the COMP/THBS5 gene can lead to serious genetic disorders such as pseudoachondroplasia and multiple epiphyseal dysplasia, both of which are characterized by skeletal abnormalities and can result in significant health issues. Thrombospondin 5 monoclonal antibody (644A8D5) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating cartilage biology and related pathologies.
