SEE ALSO...

TGN38 Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TGN38 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TGN38 Antibody (B-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TGN38, also known as trans-Golgi network protein 2, is a type I integral membrane protein that plays a crucial role in sorting and transporting proteins within the cell. TGN38 is primarily located in the trans-Golgi network, where TGN38 facilitates the partitioning of nascent proteins into carrier vesicles destined for appropriate cellular locations. This localization is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and ensuring proteins reach their functional sites, thereby influencing various cellular processes such as secretion and membrane trafficking. The cytosolic domain of TGN38 interacts with AP2 Clathrin adaptor complexes through a specific tyrosine-containing motif, which is essential for internalization from the plasma membrane. Additionally, TGN38 undergoes post-translational modifications, including N- and O-linked glycosylation, which are important for stability and function, particularly in tissues such as the brain, lung, and kidney.
