TERT Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects TERT protein from mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TERT (clone C-12) antibody is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing flexibility for various experimental needs. Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) plays a crucial role in maintaining telomere length by adding telomeric repeat sequences to chromosome ends, which is vital for cellular longevity and stability. In most somatic cells, telomerase activity remains low or absent, leading to progressive telomere shortening with each cell division, a process associated with aging and cellular senescence. However, TERT becomes reactivated in immortal cells and many types of cancer, allowing cells to bypass normal growth limits. TERT contains a reverse transcriptase domain essential for enzymatic activity, and TERT interaction with telomerase RNA remains critical for telomerase complex assembly and function. Understanding TERT dynamics and regulation can provide insights into cancer biology and potential therapeutic targets.
