TEF-1 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TEF-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TEF-1 Antibody (E-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Transcriptional enhancer factor 1 (TEF-1), a member of the TEA/ATTS domain family, is a nuclear protein that plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression across various cell types. TEF-1′s highly conserved DNA-binding domain allows interaction with specific DNA sequences, such as GT-IIC, SphI/II, and M-CAT, as well as the proximal regulatory element of transforming growth factor-alpha, which is often overexpressed in numerous cancers. TEF-1′s ability to bind these elements is vital for function in gene regulation, particularly in tumorigenesis, where TEF-1 may influence oncogene expression. Additionally, TEF-1 undergoes post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation by several protein kinase C isozymes, which occurs at serine and threonine residues. This phosphorylation can diminish DNA-binding capacity, suggesting a regulatory mechanism that may inhibit transcriptional activity. Furthermore, TEF-1′s potential to form dimers is believed to be significant for its role as a transcriptional regulator, highlighting importance in cellular processes and disease states.
