TBC1D24 Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects TBC1D24 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TBC1D24 is a 559 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role as a GTPase-activating protein for Rab family proteins, existing in two alternatively spliced isoforms. TBC1D24 contains a Rab-GAP TBC domain and a TLD domain, and interacts with ARF6, which is significant for neuronal projection development. By negatively modulating ARF6 function, TBC1D24 is essential for proper neuronal growth and connectivity, highlighting TBC1D24′s importance in brain development and function. TBC1D24 is highly expressed in the brain and found in other tissues such as testis, skeletal muscle, heart, kidney, lung, and liver. Notably, defects in TBC1D24 are linked to familial infantile myoclonic epilepsy (FIME), a subtype of idiopathic epilepsy that manifests in early infancy with symptoms including myoclonic seizures, febrile convulsions, and tonic-clonic seizures. TBC1D24 spans 28,353 bases and is located on human chromosome 16p13.3, making TBC1D24 a critical target for research into both neurological disorders and cellular signaling pathways.
