Tau Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody designed to detect Tau protein, also known as MAPT (microtubule-associated protein tau), or TAU. Tau monoclonal antibody (A-12) targets the amino acids 1-150 region of the human Tau protein and recognizes Tau from mouse, rat, and human sources using western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Tau antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated form and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® variants, providing flexibility for diverse experimental applications. The Tau protein is a 758 amino acid-long protein predominantly expressed in neuronal tissues, where Tau plays a critical role in promoting microtubule assembly and stability, maintaining neuronal polarity, and facilitating cytoskeletal plasticity by linking microtubules to plasma membrane components. Tau interacts with several key proteins, including microtubule-associated proteins, kinases such as GSK-3β, and phosphatases like PP2A, which regulate Tau phosphorylation status and function. Tau exists in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms and localizes to the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane. Dysregulation of Tau and Tau interactions are associated with Alzheimer′s disease, pallido-ponto-nigral degeneration (PPND), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
