Tau Antibody (A-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody developed to detect Tau protein, also known as MAPT (microtubule-associated protein tau), or TAU. Tau monoclonal antibody (A-10) targets an epitope mapping between amino acids 716-735 near the C-terminus of the human Tau protein and effectively recognizes Tau isoforms from mouse, rat, human, equine, canine, bovine, and porcine sources using western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Tau (A-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated form and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® variants, providing versatility for diverse experimental applications. Tau protein is a 758 amino acid-long protein predominantly expressed in neuronal tissues, where Tau plays a crucial role in promoting microtubule assembly and stability, maintaining neuronal structure, and facilitating intracellular transport. By stabilizing microtubules, Tau supports neuronal polarity and is essential for cytoskeletal remodeling, which is critical for synaptic plasticity and neuronal signaling. Tau interacts with several key proteins, including kinases such as GSK-3β and phosphatases like PP2A, which regulate Tau phosphorylation state and functional activity. Proper Tau function is vital for cytoskeletal integrity and neuronal health, while Tau dysregulation and aggregation are implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous neurodegenerative diseases. Abnormal Tau accumulation and hyperphosphorylation are hallmark features of Alzheimer′s disease, corticobasal degeneration (CBD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and other tauopathies, making anti-Tau antibody (A-10) an invaluable tool for researchers investigating these conditions.
